Meet Hero of the Week Thomas Guerin
Welcome to Hero of the Week, an ongoing series sharing stories from some of the best photographers in the Pexels community.
Today we’re introducing Thomas Guerin, Pexels Hero and ceramics student. Thomas is currently working towards his master’s degree in ceramics at university in Limoges, France. He first got hooked on photography four years ago. “I fell in love with pictures made by Mr. Ben Brown,” Thomas says, “and I really wanted to create something like his content.”
“Step by step, I bought my first camera, a Nikon d3100 with a 18–105mm lens, later a 50mm lens, a full frame camera…” Since he started out shooting photos, Thomas has continued to pursue the same goal—to express his own vision of the world. At the moment he shoots with a Nikon d610, with 35mm Sigma Art and 85mm Samyang 1.4 lenses.
His advice for other photographers: “Try to show the things that make a place beautiful.” It’s clear that Thomas strives to do the same when it comes to photographing people, too.
Thomas’ portraits are what first caught our eye when we came across his Pexels profile. They’re always full of life and personality, showing his subjects lost in thought, laughing at the camera, or playfully staring down the lens. It’s no surprise that portraiture is Thomas’ favorite part of photography. “I love capturing the expressions of somebody’s face,” he says.
