Meet Hero of the Week Jonas Ferlin
Welcome to Hero of the Week, an ongoing series sharing stories from some of the best photographers in the Pexels community.
Today we’re excited to introduce you to Hero of the Week Jonas Ferlin. Currently living in Marau, in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, Jonas is an IT assistant as well as a talented photographer. Capturing the golden hour is a speciality of Jonas’—his photography is often highlighted by the warm gold tones that come from shooting at just the right moment before the sun sets.
Jonas has been shooting photos since he got his first cellphone with a camera, around thirteen years ago. But six years ago he started taking photography more seriously, and picked up his first DSLR. Now he shoots with a Canon 6D with a 24-105 4.0 lens as well as a 50 1.4 Ultrasonic.
Landscapes are a favorite subject for Jonas. “It’s like therapy for me,” he says. Nature is a major source of photographic inspiration. Even when shooting urban São Paulo, he tends to pay special attention to the light and sky, with sunset reflections a recurring theme.
Asked about his goals, Jonas says that making a living from photography isn’t necessarily his aim. “I really like to just go outside and make photos for myself. But if the world wants to know my work, I don’t mind,” he adds, with a laugh.
